Grupo Aranea, with whom we are preparing the release of the first title of the Affinis collection, just won, in association with Autonome Forme, the International Contest to Recover the Maritime Landscape of the Salina Joniche, in the Province of Reggio di Calabria, Italy.

The proposal for what they have won the award commit to restore the marsh aquatic landscape, similar to the original, with a harshly superimpose of the industrial layer as a new life support. It intends thereby to restructure the natural balance, reverse the manmade abuse. A very attractive point in the project is the importance attached to the prints produced in this weak environment, which will remain as awareness, reminding future generations the risks of an unconscious attitude toward the environment. The long-term goal is to create a continuously evolving ecosystem, to which human beings may get to adapt, learning to live with other species without subjecting.

The evolution of this project can be followed through the Grupo Aranea’s flickr. More info about the contest and the prize here.

Congratulations to Grupo Aranea!

We are honored to include this project in the book Passable Orographies.
