We are happy to present our six thematic collections and the seed-titles launched at book-a.net:

Curated by Ricardo Devesa, the AFFINIS collection is dedicated to exploring emerging architecture studies, backed by a trajectory of more than ten years, whose quality and arguments make them stand out. The emerging nature of these works does not discredit the solidity of their proposals despite the fact that they have not been revised, criticized or analyzed in an editorial work. Passable Orographies. Aranea / Leiva Notebooks is committed to the work of Grupo Aranea, a multidisciplinary team whose main motivation is to integrate various disciplines and cultural spheres by creatively and transversally challenging architectonic and professional problems associated to intervention in landscape. The book is structured like one of Grupo Aranea’s average notebooks which, during trips and visits to the site, “begins to fill up with outlines, diagrams and data”. Thus, the four large blocks of documentation will intertwine and intermingle to narrate the origin and the ups and downs of the entire projective, reflexive and constructive process of works.

Curated by Pau Solà-Morales, the MARGINALIA collection seeks to publish decisive texts on architectonic criticism from the 20th century along with an in-depth study of the context. An annex situates these works on the timeline of ideas with an introduction by the author, a glossary of terminology and an explanation of the most important concepts contained within. Toward a Critique of Architecture Ideology. Manfredo Tafuri. Manfredo Tafuri is possibly one of the most ostracized and unknown architecture critics from the second half of the 20th century. His historical and critical project of colossal depth continues to be a fundamental theoretical piece for modern and contemporary historiography.

Curated by Simona Rota, the EKTAS collection proposes a model that deviates from the catalogue while approaching what may be a photographic mind map, developed from the conviction of the author / editor that urbanity is a code of values and structures from the society that creates it and, therefore, the photographs and interpretations thereof are an incursion into our dreams, achievements and failures. Ostalgia and Big Exit are the titles that announce the EKTAS collection, led by photographer and artist Simona Rota. It is dedicated to two of her works chosen by the author to outline the concerns and issues she intends to develop further in the collection she is heading.

Joining non-coplanar yet attracting fields, such as the alternative current that flows between art and architecture, TRANSFERENCES aims to reflect the relationship between idea and matter inherent in all artistic and architectonic practice and thought. Curated by Ángel Martínez García-Posada, this collection intends to narrate the relationship between art and architecture as intertwined activities. The seed-title of TRANSFERENCES is Circular Variations. Drawings and looks on continuity. By intertwining discontinuous stories through a series of artistic works and literary passages, the title inaugurating this collection, aims to inflict a fate of natural continuity, real and metaphorical, between ideas and things, places and proposals, the sciences and the arts in order to invoke a specialized present, something that writing and the project fluently resolve in diluting the boundaries between art and life.

Curated by Paula Álvarez, the EDITABLES collection sets out to explore the work of various architecture studies that, over the course of the last few decades, have combined method and form, diluting the distinction between the production and reception of space, inhabitation and creation. Each title will be dedicated to a particular study whose work transcends creative processes of mediation and retrieval. Ontopias, first title of EDITABLES , not only investigates the work of the OSS and Ángel Borrego Cubero, but also the diverse and complex subject matters he has been dealing with to such an extent that the book can be considered another one of his collaborative and cross-media research projects.

Finally, the INMERSIONS collection, curated by Placido Martinez Gonzalez, recovers architecture, urban proposals, techniques and materials that have appeared since the Industrial Revolution as proven examples of the changes accompanying new methods of industrial production, economic management and social organization. This revival tackles three essential questions: heritage, energy and nature. The New City, the seed title of INMERSIONS collection, revisits Ludwig Hilberseimer’s unique investigation, a radically modern proposal of territorial colonization that relied on historical knowledge for justification and remained loyal to the unconditional alliance between the communal spirit of a small city and the pragmatic efficiency of infrastructures.
